Since the original official launch of GCD, the problems that followed and now the release of another 500 copies, I have been seeing a lot of visitors to these pages, many, I imagine, looking for help with hosting, installation of the script and/or other difficulties. I just wanted to put a quick post up to try and direct people to a couple of places where they are more likely to find help with Google Cash Detective. Once commentator has already left details of the Unofficial GCD Forum on another of my posts here and there have also been discussions at the Digital Point Forum.
Also, in addition to my earlier posts on the subject, readers who are particularly interested in Adwords spying tools might be interested in the Beta launch of Zamdoo which is free to use whilst in its Beta incarnation and does not require installation of a script on your own server. I am not one of the Beta testers and have no first hand experience of the program but it seems to be a viable proposition compared to all the others.
If you are a customer I understand there is now an official forum, however, judging by some of the threads at the unofficial one, all is still not well in the GCD world and the two camps have had their differences. I apologize to those of you who found your way to my pages in hope of enlightenment or answers to your GCD problems. I didn't buy the script and so can't give any technical help. As far as I can tell, many customers are still struggling to get the program to work or have given up in frustration and are now looking for refunds. On the other hand, there are some positive comments at Chris Carpenter's Blog which suggest that a number of people are running the Detective without problems, and it seems that the forums are now showing signs of getting to grips with GCD. You should find some help from these posters, and users. .
I hope this is of some use to anyone landing here in search of help or information about Google Cash Detective. There are obviously still many support issues and bugs to be sorted out and I hope that the vendors will step up and do the right thing by people who invested a not inconsiderable sum to be the "pioneers ". It's a cautionary tale for sure, and a steep learning curve for many.
I'm pleased to note that some users took up with Kiosk.ws as hosts and have had no hosting difficulties whatsoever. If nothing else GCD sorted out the men from the boys in the web hosting market.
