16/06: Live VOIP Help Desk and Conference Software

After my post yesterday, I  mentioned that I was busy working on the main website and that's pretty much how I've spent my day today. I don't mind rolling up my sleeves and getting involved with coding and the like, even though I'm hardly proficient. However, from time to time, you run into a problem and all you want to do is get it solved as quickly as possible.

Now, a lot of web hosting companies offer 24/7 support, although what that constitutes can vary wildly from company to company. I'm pleased to say that my host has one of the best customer support structures in the business. I'll explain why.

If you're like me, often doing my best work at 3am when all is quiet, there is nothing worse than hitting a technical snag that stops you dead in your tracks. When, on the odd occasion these things do happen, all I have to do is click on one of my desktop icons, open up a VOIP conference room and I am through to a tech support member within seconds. The software enables live video and audio so that each party can communicate clearly and quickly. It's like having your own support room right alongside your office. This technology is wonderful, and audio is crystal clear. The real beauty of it of course is that it costs absolutely nothing to contact my host this way either.

There are other ways of dealing with support issues - you can post a support ticket, most of which are answered within one hour (I doubted that claim when I first saw it, but it has proved to be true), you could phone of course, although there isn't much point, or you can email. Whichever way I've done it in the past, the response has always been fast and helpful. You can't put a price on this kind of service, and if you are completely new to web hosting, it's invaluable. I think everyone who works there deserves a public vote of thanks - OK, I'm sure they'd rather I took them out for a beer, but I'm a long way from their clutches. So, to the staff at Kiosk.ws - thanks, you're a great team!

Having wandered off the main path I was intending to follow, I'll just add that the other benefit of VOIP conferencing software is that as a customer, you get your very own conference room too. That means you can talk live to anyone, anywhere in the world, anytime. All you have to do is supply them with the URL to your room  - no more long distance calls to pay for, and this has fantastic business and personal implications for its money saving aspect alone. If you'd like to know more all you need to do is click on the link at the foot of this post, and when you get to the site, click the demo tab at the top of the page - there is a public room that anyone can visit and you're welcome to have a look around.
