21/07: Niche Marketing Keyword Tools

Affiliate marketers all know about niche marketing and the need for good keyword research and there are several tools available to help find those all important keyphrases. As the use of Google Adwords has become more and more widespread we have been bombarded with e-books, software and scripts claiming to simplify the process of making large amounts of money with pay per click advertising. There is no doubt that the level of interest in these types of offering are at an all time high, but are they worth spending your hard earned money on........?

When Google Cash Detective hit the scene a month or so ago, it was sold out within hours of its release such was the buzz that had been built up beforehand. This was not a cheap piece of gear either, and it illustrated just how keen many people are to try and make a killing with affiliate programs and pay per click ads. In fact, after its launch, customers encountered all sorts of difficulties with GCD and yet the demand for the product remained extraordinarily high as proved by the release of the Google Cash Detective version 2 a week or so ago.

The importance of keyword research applies not only to pay per click advertising however. Writing articles and blogging can also benefit from a little keyword research to help your organic search results. With all the buzz surrounding GCD I was still able to secure first page rankings on Google for the search term "Google Cash Detective" and benefited from a lot of traffic, particularly in the bloody aftermath of the original release and it still brings in a steady flow of visitors every day. GCD is basically a spying tool that enables you to gather data about other people's PPC campaigns and helps you to find those that are profitable, or at least most likely to be profitable. The claims of its effectiveness certainly pulled in the sales but for many the price was simply too high.

Capitalizing on this gap in the market along came AdSpyPro, another spying tool script claiming to do exactly the same thing but for a fraction of the cost. In fact, you can snap up AdspyPro for just $67.00. Compared to the $497 charged for GCD with additional monthly fees this is certainly a bargain. From the comments made by users of this bargain basement alternative, it would appear to be a very useful tool to own, so, if PPC marketing is your thing, you might well be interested in delving a little deeper.

If you can't afford or don't want to spend huge amounts of money on keyword research all is not lost. There are several low cost or even free ways to research these things, but the biggest problem with these has always been time. Also, despite the claims of money fountains and easy pickings, PPC ads are still an area fraught with difficulties, particularly for beginners. The tools mentioned above will certainly give an advantage and if you know how to put the data to good use you will no doubt increase your success rates and ROI, but, as with all things  there is no magic wand.

Maybe you are not interested in PPC campaigns however and are content to research your niche keywords for good organic search results we can highly recommend another new kid on the block called Micro Niche Finder. One of the great features of this software is the built in strength of competition indicator which is a huge time saver over the traditional checking of Google pages and number of searches carried out on particular keywords and phrases.

All you have to do now is click on the SOC button and a color coded competition indicator tells you if it is worth going after your chosen keywords. Additionally it will inform you of the number of webpages  with backlinks containing this term in the anchor text, the number of webpages with the term in the title tag and the number containing the term in the URL. It couldn't be easier to detect how much competition you face.

To see a demonstration of the program in action, the publishers have made some Micro Niche Finder videos for you to view. This is an excellent and simple to use keyword tool and comes highly recommended for anyone looking to save time researching effective keywords for almost any application, including but certainly not limited to PPC uses. The price is certainly right too and more than worth it for the reduction in man hours it achieves.

If you prefer to research keywords and phrases without the benefits of checking the true nature of the competition you might like to take a look at a program called GoodKeywords from SoftNik Technologies which is still a useful aid, if not nearly as powerful as the software mentioned above. It's freeware too so there is no cost to users.

Additionally, for a great deal more information on the world of affiliate marketing and pay per click advertising you should really check out The Affiliate Classroom which is designed to empower people of all levels of experience and teach you how to make a living as an affiliate marketer.
