14/11: Oh No...More About Making Money Online

Making Money Online - thousands are doing it, countless thousands more are trying to do it, and even thousands more would like to do it.

You’d think that in view of the numbers we’re talking here, and taking into account the amount of people giving advice on how to do it, it should be pretty simple right? The fact is, there are so many variables involved, that finding that elusive formula that works for you, is usually subject to so many outside influences that most people give up long before they come close to any real breakthroughs.

Over the next few days and weeks, I’ve decided to throw some thoughts together about the whole thing. I have no idea what order they will come in and some of it will just be thinking out loud, in the hope that some feedback will be forthcoming. I’ll publish links to the people and places who are far more qualified than me on a wide variety of subjects in the hope that by the end of it all, I will have published something useful for everyone who reads it. I plan to talk about things that don’t work, just as much as things that do, most based on personal experience, but some maybe not. I’ll give opinions that anyone is free to challenge in the hope that it adds to the whole subject. I’ll also try to ensure that it’s useful for people at every stage of the make money online journey. I’ll also talk about a lot of things that are just plain commonsense (I hope). A shall probably fall on my ass a few times too, so feel free to chuckle and comment on the howlers when they come!

I should add a small disclaimer at the outset - I do not make thousands of dollars a month online, and I don’t claim to have any magic answers for online hopefuls, but if I can save people time and trouble, water a few struggling seeds and say only one thing that helps, I guess it will be worth it :-)

That's it - no links today, just an introduction to the idea.

(If posting is a little erratic over the next couple of weeks, I apologize in advance but we have a lot going on here at the moment!)

One of my dreams has always been to one day be wealthy enough that I could live in The Cayman Islands, I'm already jealous of you !!

I'm struggling to balance a fulltime job as head of IT at http://www.pacsafe.com and my own online business, what makes it worse is I lived for 6 years off the internet but became so lazy my income dried up and I didnt get a job until I was bankrupt, so I'm financially strapped even with a job and find the stress of working and paying bills sometimes kills my motivation. My blog is really just my way of motivating myself a bit more, hopefully it will also help someone else.

Hi Sean,

Thanks for dropping by and contributing to the conversations.

I think many people will sympathize completely with your situation. I've been a wage slave my whole life until very recently. This is not due to sudden overnight success online - I'm very fortunate to be married to someone whose work provides us with an irregular but good income and neither of us has to go out to work any longer, although this can change if we hit lean times, which of course we do.

I'm not too proud to go and get my hands dirty when the need arises, and I'll do what needs doing. I personally never thought I could live that way, so conditioned was I in the "hold down a regular job" ethos and "plan for the future" mentality. Whilst staying home and flipping the bird to THE MAN is something that many people aspire to, it is a big adjustment and takes some getting used to. I'm amazed I said that, but it's true for me. Now though, I'm constantly surprised that I struggled with a way of life I never really was happy with for so many years.

I wish you luck in all your ventures - have a great day. I've subscribed to your blog this morning too :-)

You're right about everyone, everywhere talking about making money online. I have to wonder how they can all make money, when most of them produce nothing and have nothing to sell.

Hi Tim

Well, there are people making money online, that's not in dispute. What I'm hoping to achieve through the planned posts is to dispel some of the myths and help people who are wondering what they can do, with some ideas on the options available to them.

Good luck with RT's contest btw - I'm not taking part myself but I will submit a count to him from my blog.

Hi Stephen.

No worries, I'm finding it a struggle to keep up myself at the moment. However, the ongoing posts will be appearing soon.......
