Free Advertising For Reviewers
Written by caymanhost on March 9, 2009 – 5:03 pmFor the month of March and maybe continuing into April, I am offering a free advertising spot to anyone who takes the time to post a review of their host in our hosting reviews category.
How is it going to work?
All you need to do is find your hosting company (use the search box if you need to) , fill out your ratings for each category by clicking on the stars and give us a reasonably well written review of your experiences, good or bad, but please refrain from bad language
. By a review I mean more than a couple of lines
Once you are done, use the contact form to confirm you have posted your review, tell me the URL of the site you wish to advertise and your ad copy (no more than 100 characters please) and I will include your message at the very top of the site on our rotating banner for a full calendar month. So you get some link love from your comment as well as a free ad spot right on the top of the site. Good deal?
There are only a couple of conditions:
1) No affiliate links please
2) No Adult Pharma or Gambling Ads
3) I reserve the right not to publish any ads I deem inappropriate and to end this offer at any time.
So, get posting about your hosting!
TCH

Web Hosting Reviews Wanted : Customer Feedback
Written by caymanhost on May 27, 2008 – 11:15 pmThis web hosting directory has been running for over a year now and it is really time to expand the content. This is where you, my readers and visitors, come in. Although a few reviews have been published on the site, I think this is the area most lacking and I would like to change it for the better.
Whether you run a blog, a personal website or a business site, we want you to share your hosting experiences.
In as far as I can, I ensure that no false claims or promises are made about any of the web hosting companies who appear on this site, but as an affiliate for some of them, it is easy to dismiss anything I might say about them as pure commission hunting. This is the problem with so many hosting "review" sites and one that I know affects my site too.
What I would like to see is a lot more genuine feedback from customers – the folks in the trenches who have paid their hard earned money for someone to host their websites and blogs. At the moment the site isn’t ideally structured for reviews but this is the way I hope it will work.
If you would like to send a review of any hosting company and any kind of plan – shared/VPS/Dedicated – I’m asking readers to submit them via my helpdesk – see the link at top left for Contact/Support.
Whether you have something positive or negative to say about your web hosting experience, I want to hear from you. My intention is to make a post of each review here on the directory and I will of course give credit by way of a link back to the reviewer’s site of choice (within reason) for your help. I do reserve the right to make editorial changes, because I want to ensure that feedback is fair, genuine and within legal boundaries
So, if you would like your views to be heard, to give praise where praise is due, or share disappointing stories of your hosting experiences, please get writing. I will endeavour to publish submitted reviews as promptly as time allows.
If you are unable or unwilling to write a quick review, please feel free to leave a comment here, or under any appropriate post – this is a "DoFollow" site, so all commenters are rewarded with a little link love for their contributions.

Site5 Hosting Customer Review
Written by caymanhost on October 5, 2007 – 9:01 pmReview by Ricky Lim
I have been hosting some of my websites with Site5 for about a year now. I also have other websites hosted in other web hosting companies. Here is my review for Site5 based on my own personal experience with them
Why I chose Site5
I got to know about Site5 through the webhostingtalk forums. At that time, I was searching for a reliable and reputable cheap web hosting company for a couple of my new websites. I’d heard a lot of good reviews about Site5 and decided to try them out. Since they have a 60 day money back refund, I figured if I did not like it, I would ask for my money back. Anyway, I was basically testing their web hosting on my new websites so I was not terribly worried.
Site5 Hosting Plan
Site5 only offer two types of hosting plan : shared and reseller, so I took the superhosting extreme package. Basically here are the brief web hosting package details (see footnote for latest):
Diskspace : 8GB
Bandwidth : 500GB
Multisite Accounts : 5
Unlimited : domain pointers, ftp, mysql
It also comes with fantastico and cpanel. All this for about $109 annually which is pretty cheap. (see footnote) Please note this hosting plan is no longer available and is replaced with multisite dynamite plan. It is basically the same as my previous plan except for more diskspace and bandwidth. As I’m writing this, they have a promotion where you can get this hosting plan for 2 years at only $149 which I consider to be a good deal.
Unique Features of Site5 hosting
One feature I like about Site5 hosting is the multisite accounts. It is basically a full featured control panel for each domain. Unlike other shared web hosting companies which uses domain pointers, a multisite accounts exists on its own with its own subdomains, domain pointer, ftp, mysql etc. This help me to organize my websites better especially if you have a lot of domains. You can set the diskspace and bandwidth from the main pool of your web hosting account.
The other feature is the flashback which allows you to undo any changes you make to your website. It is a life saver especially when a website breaks down and you do not know the cause.
Things that can be improved
Though I like
target="_blank" >Site5 and would recommend it to friends, there are a few things that could make it better. One of them is the upgrade option. I recently upgraded my hosting plan to multisite dynamite and was told I had to shift to another server. The problem was I had to do the data transfer myself. With 3GB of data to transfer, not to mention the dozens of ftp, mysql and email accounts, it was a real hassle. Something I am sure their staff could have easily completed in a short time.
The other thing I didn’t like was I could not request for more IP addresses. If you know about SEO, then you know how having multiple IP addresses can be useful.
In all, I would still recommend Site5 due to its cheap web hosting plan, good support and high availability.
(Since the author wrote this review there have been some changes to the pricing and features of Site5 ’s hosting plans. Shared hosting is currently available for $5 per month for a two year contract. 12 month plan works out at $7 per month billed annually in advance. Monthly billing will cost $15 per month. Reseller accounts start at $20 per month billed annually in advance. Full details of all plans are available at the Site5 ’s Website).
