Budget Web Hosting

Budget Web Hosting – Picking One of Many! by Kistina Robin
So you thought it was easy picking up a budget web hosting company? If only that were true!

In fact, the choice could not just be an overwhelming one but a critical job too. To be honest, choosing any web hosting company is a tedious task considering there are so many of them out there. A simple litmus test could be just searching for web hosting on any search engine and you would have millions of hosts simply a click away.

Surprisingly, many people are ignorant of the term, “Budget Web Hosting”. For you folks, let us explain. Budget Hosting (generally speaking) is a hosting service that costs below $10/month. Most companies catering to those seeking Budget Web Hosting offer a one year plan and in some cases, require a setup fee to get things rolling. These deals are generally aimed at personal users and first time customers. Risking your business with budget hosting is probably not wise in the long term, although that’s not to say “budget” always means “sub standard”.

The crucial and difficult task as a customer is evaluating the potential budget web hosting companies. Your best first move is to look into their homepage and see if the company actually appears professional, dependable and worthwhile. Have you easily discovered the information you required? Check their contact information page and see if they have a physical contact address alongside other essentials. If you don’t find this information it could cause for concern. Another important aspect that many people tend to ignore is whether the budget web hosting company has a toll free number. If they don’t, it might not be a very sensible idea making calls across the globe and having enormous telephone bills. You might find this statement a bit judgmental but the fact remains that a toll free number is an  indication of a company’s keenness to help!

The next thing in question has to be the uptime guarantee. Wondering what’s that about? Uptime guarantee means the actual time that the server is up, live and serving your web page. For instance, 90 percent of uptime guarantee would mean that the company’s servers would be working 90 percent of the time - in other words your website will be unavailable 10% of the time or 36.5 days of the year! (not good for business users obviously, but nor is it great if you are hosting a forum   for example). Talking of guarantees, it is not surprising that many of the Budget web hosting companies do not guarantee client satisfaction. Then there are those who trumpet their service to an unrealistic extent. Look into their services agreement and evaluate their terms and conditions. This should give you a fair idea of where they actually stand. Check if there are any refund policies in case of substandard service. Remember, its better to look around if you are not too comfortable with it.

Despite the fact that there is more than just one factor to be measured in reaching a decision for your most appropriate budget web hosting company, last but not the least of the vital considerations is the after sales support. The question is: what sort of resources are made available to you. Are there any free scripts or marketing tools offered to you? Would you get enough support for setting up your account with this particular budget web hosting company? Remember, simply because a company offers budget web hosting doesn’t necessarily make them the best choice. Are they offering you quality service or just relying on a low price to lure you into signing on the dotted line?
