Good post. SEO factors are vast, that is sure, but in my experience, linking anchor text relevance has had the biggest impact on my rankings.

I have a couple of observations on this comment and a little advice, which I hope will be taken in the spirit it is offered, being the desire to help.

Firstly, I suspect your comment is part of a blog commenting policy, judging by your use of anchor text for your chosen keyword phrase. I don’t have a problem with that, but basically it won’t do you much good because all comments here are “no follow”.

With that in mind, it would seem that whoever is posting the comments, whether it is you or someone on your behalf, is not really clear on the topic. As your comment suggests that you have seen great success building backlinks with relevant anchor text, I clicked through to your site. Obviously it relates to SEO services in the Chicago area, but here’s where you start to run into problems.

Firstly, your domain appears to have been around since November 2007 and as you claim to be SEO experts it is surprising to note your domain’s current performance. Google Toolbar Pagerank – zero, Alexa rank 9016756, 12 URL’s in Google’s index…..I could continue but maybe you’ll see where I’m going. You have virtually no backlinks, very little traffic and basically a site that is not working for you.

If you cannot do better with your own site, it doesn’t inspire much confidence in someone looking to help them with SEO and if your backlinking strategy is as successful as you seem to be saying, how do you explain the lack of links to your site?

I’m not saying this to be picky or pointlessly critical – these should all be valid concerns to you and something you really do need to address. Remember that making statements online is easy, but sometimes you are going to be asked to back them up and if you don’t want to end up with egg on your face it’s wise to be in a position to prove your worth in your chosen field. Unfortunately, on this occasion, your comment has not really done anything to help you or your business – not everyone out there is an SEO newbie – if you want to try and sell your services on the basis that it’s easy to rook the uninitiated (and I’m not saying you are, but you can clearly see how it might appear that way) your business model is flawed and needs to be reworked.

The statistics on any site can be easily and quickly scanned by anyone using Firefox and the SEOQuake add-on for example, and most savvy marketers and webmasters will be using something similar. My point is that dishonesty or stretching the truth in the name of marketing is invariably folly because sooner or later someone will call you on it.
